Every coach who hosts a class, a seminar, a workshop, or a 1-on-1 session on Marrow has uploaded their credentials. We checked them against the issuing organizations. Athletes browse with verified-only on by default.

Why this matters
The Instagram coach problem.
Open Instagram. Search "personal trainer." Half the people promoting themselves as coaches have no credentials. Most have never coached a body that is not their own. A few are actually dangerous.
What Instagram allows.
- Zero verification. Anyone with a six-pack and a phone can call themselves a coach. Followers get sold $300 programs by people who never opened a textbook.
- No accountability. Bad coaching does not get flagged. Athletes get hurt. The coach blocks them and keeps selling.
- Real coaches get undercut. The hours you spent on your NSCA-CSCS, your NASM-CES, your Precision Nutrition L2 do not show up in a search algorithm.
- Athletes cannot tell. A polished thumbnail and a confident tone is indistinguishable from twelve years of practical training.
What Marrow does instead.
- Credentials required. Every host uploads their certs before they can publish an event or charge for a session. No exceptions.
- Verified by humans. A real person on Marrow's team cross-references each cert against the issuing organization's public registry.
- Visible badge. Verified coaches show a Marrow check on their profile, their events, and their community spaces. Athletes know who they are working with.
- Filter on by default. When athletes browse the community, only verified instructors show up. Unverified hosts cannot publish until they complete verification.

Honest answers about how this works.
What if my cert is not on the list?
Submit it through the "Other" option in verification. A human reviews it. If the issuing organization is real and recognized in the industry, we add it to the taxonomy. Diploma mills and self-published certifications do not qualify.
Does Marrow's verification mean a coach is good?
No. Verification confirms the coach has the credentials they claim. Whether they are a great coach is up to athletes to discover through reviews, their training, and the relationship. Verification is the floor, not the ceiling.
What happens if a coach's cert expires?
We send a heads-up 60 days before the expiration date. If the cert lapses and the coach has no other valid credential, the verified badge downgrades to "Verification expiring" and the coach has 30 days to renew before the badge is removed entirely.
Can an athlete file a complaint?
Yes. Every coach profile has a private reporting link. Verified credential complaints are reviewed within one business day. Confirmed misrepresentations cost the coach their badge immediately and their account is closed.
What about international certifications?
European certs (REPS UK, UKSCA, AusActive, ISMETA, etc.), and other internationally-recognized credentials are reviewed manually until we have a native partnership. We accept most legitimate international fitness credentials with documentation in English.
Are gym-employed instructors covered?
Yes. Gym admins on Marrow can vouch for their on-staff instructors during gym onboarding. The instructor still uploads their personal credentials. Both the gym admin's reputation and the instructor's individual verification matter.
Does verified mean insured?
No. Insurance is separate. We offer a "Verified Plus" status for coaches who also upload current personal liability insurance and current CPR/AED certification. Athletes can filter for it.
I am a coach. How long does verification take?
From submission to badge live: most reviews complete within two business days. International certs and "Other" submissions can take longer because they require manual research. We email you as soon as the badge is live.
